Getting Your Probation Reinstated

Getting Your Probation Reinstated

It is important to know what it means to get your probation reinstated. Getting your probation reinstated means that you have violated your probation in some way, to begin with, and you are now looking to stay on probation after receiving your charge rather than going back to jail. A new violation can be issued for… Continue Reading

When Can Lying Be Against the Law?

When Can Lying Be Against the Law?

Yes, lying can actually be against the law. In most scenarios, liars are nothing more than people who avoid problems by not telling the truth, leading other people to simply lose respect for the liar. But in some cases, it can be far worse. There are times when lying can actually be against the law,… Continue Reading

Failure to Report a Crime

Failure to Report a Crime

In most states, it is legal to simply not report a crime, but there are some exceptions. In some cases, there are states, like Texas, that make it mandatory to report higher offense crimes. Atlantic City Burglary, Trespassing, Home & Car Invasion Defense Attorney – Atlantic & Cape May County

Representing Clients Accused of Breaking Into Houses and Cars

If you have been accused of burglarizing someone else’s home or vehicle, you could be facing serious criminal consequences, including imprisonment, fines, probation and a long-term criminal record. You need to talk to an experienced attorney as soon as possible.

I am John W. Tumelty, an Atlantic City burglary defense lawyer with more than 25 years of experience. From my offices in Atlantic and Cape May Counties, I represent clients throughout South Jersey. If you’ve been charged, don’t hesitate to contact me for a free consultation.

Making Sure You Understand the Burglary Charges Against You

Legally, burglary means breaking into someone’s house or car for the purposes of committing a crime. Most people charged with burglary are accused of attempting some sort of theft, but technically, any criminal intent can be used as the basis for a burglary charge.

Many of my clients are accused of breaking into cars for the purposes of stealing stereos, cell phones, GPS devices, pocketbooks and other valuable items. Even if the prosecutors cannot prove that you actually stole anything, they may still be able to convict you of burglary.

Fighting to Keep a Burglary Conviction off Your Record

If you hire me to defend you against burglary charges, I will carefully investigate the facts of your case in order to determine whether there are any vulnerabilities in the prosecution’s evidence. If so, I have the experience to aggressively fight the charges against you.

You may also have other options for avoiding conviction, including pretrial intervention. I will go over all possible courses of action with you so you can make an informed decision about your case. Call me today at 609-390-4600 to discuss what I can do about your burglary charges.
